BEST BROADCAST IN TE REO MĀORI

AWARD OBJECTIVE

To recognise excellence in te reo Māori programming, or recognising bilingual content broadcast in a mix of te reo Māori and English, that serves and reflects the needs and preferences of the target audience.

AWARD DESCRIPTION

This award covers radio shows, documentaries, features, news, music and a range of other programmes that recognise the value of broadcasting in te reo Māori of which at least 30% of content is presented in te reo Māori.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

BROADCAST OUTPUT

Audio must be a maximum of 10 minutes duration. Must be accompanied by a script in English translation (if applicable). Instead of a standard audio entry, we will also accept a YouTube link to the programme. Include this link within your written submission.

WRITTEN DEMONSTRATION (no points)

A brief written statement (maximum 200 words) of how well the programme serves its audience, how you perceive your role as a broadcaster and what you are trying to achieve through your programme and evidence of this including direct involvement and participation. 

JUDGING CRITERIA

A - 20 Points - Quality of the linguistic character of the language, function, proficiency of speaking, pronounciation, grammatical structure, vocabulary, contextual use and appropriateness.

B - 20 Points - Innovation and originality of content & form and technical quality.

C - 10 Points - Quality of on-air presentation and delivery. 

BEST TE REO MĀORI / TE AO MĀORI INITIATIVE

AWARD OBJECTIVE

Te recognise excellence in innovation of the use of te reo Māori and/or the promotion of Te Ao Māori that educates, serves and reflects the needs and preferences of the target audience.

AWARD DESCRIPTION

This award covers radio shows, documentaries, features, news, music, digital, social and a range of other platforms/programming/activations that recognise the innovative ways to promote te reo Māori and/or Te Ao Māori.
