'The Blackie' Award for Comedy in Radio sponsored by MusicMaster Scheduling
CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise and celebrate funny and entertaining radio excellence, 'a golden moment of radio'.
CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
Open to an on-air broadcaster(s) during the award period that can show one great moment that epitomises entertaining radio. This could include a parody, prank call, video or something that made the nation laugh out loud.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
AUDIO
- Audio duration maximum is 10 minutes - in the main this will be one voice break but there may be examples of a rolling saga.
- In addition, a 10 second audio clip from the entry must be submitted separately with the entry to be used on awards night.
WRITTEN DEMONSTRATION – No points
A short description should be included (no more than 200 words) describing the background to the broadcast and why it had significant impact. Explain how the idea was conceived and executed and cite examples of its impact.
A video can be submitted for this category, but a link must be provided. Uploads are not accepted. Duration is to be no longer than 2 minutes. Edited highlights videos can be created for your radio award entry, but any filmed footage included in them must be from the original and not re-created. Date and time of broadcast should be included.
JUDGING CRITERIA
A - 30 POINTS
Audio evidence of the broadcast's specialness. This will show effectiveness in entertaining the audience.
B - 10 POINTS
Quality of the audio and how well the talent interacts (if more than one).
C - 10 POINTS
How original was the broadcast idea and the quality of its execution.
